Deutschland ist drittwichtigster Absatzmarkt f\u00fcr Sri Lanka. Au\u00dferdem kommt seit vielen Jahren ein gro\u00dfer Teil der ausl\u00e4ndischen Touristen in Sri Lanka aus Deutschland. Der 1999 gegr\u00fcndete <span lang=\"en\">Sri Lanka-Germany Business Council<\/span>, in dem sich deutsche und sri-lankische Gesch\u00e4ftsleute um eine Intensivierung der bilateralen wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen bem\u00fchen, z\u00e4hlt mehr als 100 Mitglieder. Seit Ende der 1950er Jahre ist Deutschland einer der wichtigsten bilateralen Geber Sri Lankas. Seit 2006 wurde die Entwicklungszusammenarbeit (<abbr class=\"rte__abbreviation\" title=\"Entwicklungszusammenarbeit\">EZ<\/abbr>) auf den Schwerpunkt &#8218;Konflikttransformation und Friedensf\u00f6rderung&#8216; umstrukturiert und konzentriert sich heute auf die Bereiche Auss\u00f6hnung, soziale Integration, Bildung, F\u00f6rderung des Privatsektors und Berufliche Bildung mit einem regionalen Schwerpunkt auf dem Norden und Nordosten des Landes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rte__paragraph\">Die politischen Stiftungen hatten 2013 ihre Programmarbeit vor Ort eingestellt, Anfang 2016 hat die Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung wieder ein B\u00fcro in Colombo er\u00f6ffnet. Auch die anderen politischen Stiftungen sind in der Projektarbeit im Land aktiv.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rte__paragraph\">Gemeinsam mit seinen <abbr class=\"rte__abbreviation\" title=\"Europ\u00e4ische Union\">EU<\/abbr>-Partnern und mit anderen westlichen Staaten verfolgt und unterst\u00fctzt Deutschland die Einhaltung der Menschenrechte.
